The New Heights Festival has cancelled the Friday night festivities that would have kicked off the 1st annual event, due to fire in Seaside Park at the Boardwalk’s southern end. The fireworks display, bonfire, and live performance by P-Dub on Friday night have been cancelled.
Thursday afternoon fire broke out in Seaside Park at the Kohr’s Ice Cream shop, almost immediately engulfing buildings at the southern end of the boardwalk shared by Seaside Heights and Seaside Park, NJ. New Heights Festival grounds are at the northern end of Seaside Heights’ boardwalk, with its northern point at Sampson Avenue and southern point at Sherman Avenue. While the festival grounds are at almost a mile distance from the blaze and emergency response crews currently tackle the 6-alarm fire, the New Heights Festival has cancelled Friday’s events.
Saturday and Sunday events are still scheduled to take place until further notice. Please visit the site for news.
I believe that having a festival in Seaside this weekend is now a really really bad Idea. Considering the massive destruction that has taken place, and is still taking continuing to take place don’t be surprised if people are not in a festive mood today or through the weekend. Places I love and people I love are getting hammered blocks away.
Hi. We are coming tomorrow!! No matter what!! Question – will the Toms River Bridge be open to get into Seaside Heights? Thanks so much.
Is it still happening? Good way to show” JERSEY SPIRIT TO GET KNOCKED DOWN AND GET BACK UP”
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosover believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18
